You know what gets me here about that soft little smile of Dean’s? It instantly melts about ten years off his face. That’s the look of shared history. Every time I see it I do this double take because he suddenly looks so much younger.“Just like we always do”—because it’s always been just the two of them, really. Everyone else came and went, John and Bobby and Ellen and Jo and Ash and everyone—but Sam and Dean, they always find a way back to each other, and they always figure it out.
What’s more? Jensen is a brilliant actor, but he didn’t have to fake that look. He and Jared have some of that same ‘thick and thin’ connection with each other. Eight years later and they’re still doing this, still figuring out these characters and this story together, and they’re gonna keep doing it. Just like they always do.
